Bodvarr's Chain Mail Winder

My son Einkil (7) sidles up to me at the breakfast table.  I can tell by the way he's hovering just off my right side that he wants to ask me something of grave importance.  Steeling myself for the latest confession involving my home repair skills, I turn to him.

"Will you teach me how to make chain mail armor?", he asks.

And that's how the story of the Chain Mail Winder begins...
