Focus on the Fighter

To help local fighters collect, build and fit the equipment they need in order to actively and safely participate in SCA combat, we've begun holding weekly armoring and (unofficial) practice sessions.

Email Bodvarr (me) if you'd like to attend, and I'll send along directions!.

Note: Make sure you check this page to make sure we'll be holding practice - sometimes the calendar changes.

Recent Activities

June 26th - Practice and Armoring (mostly Armoring)

Jocelin, Vilkin, Faith and Logan.  Tomas. Bodvarr. Margarethe.  Bodvarr shaved the blank for his new war sword, Jocelin worked on period shoes for Logan, then worked with Bodvarr on her Heater shield.  It went into the shield press just before Border War, and today we traced and jigsawed the shield to 24"x26".  Jocelin took the shield home to measure and mark holes for edge strapping, and to acquire 1.5" metal bands to use as reinforcements for the top edge of the shield.

Note that Tomas was here!  It was his first day back with us after a protracted (mundane) trip to Texas.  We're really glad to have him back!

May 15th - Iron Oak Business Meeting

Iron Oak had a group business meeting on Sunday, and Bodvarr agreed to begin hosting some practices (unofficial ones) at his home on scheduled Friday evenings.  The first scheduled Friday evening is June 3rd, 2005.  Please email Bodvarr if you're interested in directions to come out and play.  We'll be starting at 6pm, or thereabouts.

February 27th - Voyage to Cynnabar

Bodvarr attended the Cynnabar practice, spending time knocking the rust from his sword arm.  There were other good gentles, squires and Sir Dirk Jomsvikingr present, as well as Their Excellencies Straum and Ute, Baron & Baroness of Cynnabar.  On the other side of the hall were a great many fencers, of whom I knew virtually none.

Although I cannot name them all, this day I faced Luder, Duncan, the squire Gregoire, and another squire whose name escapes me.
