Bodvarr's SCA Home

Welcome to my SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) home on the Internet.  As a relatively new member of the SCA (only a little over three years), there is a tremendous amount to learn.  The learning includes much more than just the history that the Society focuses on.  In many ways I think it's a case of art imitating life, with many subcultures and groups operating within their own spheres of interest and influence, all under the umbrella of the historical recreation.

I portray a turn of the millenia Viking, close to the end of the Viking age (circa 1050 or so).  Bodvarr would have lived near the Danevirk, an earthen rampart that ran the width of the Jutland Peninsula.  The largest town nearby would have been Hedeby/Schleswig, which I chose because one branch of my mundane family hails from that area.

His reasons for living so far south are a little unclear.  It may have been the contribution of several factors that led him to settle into a less nomadic lifestyle.

I keep a blog of miscellany that is (mostly) related to my society pursuits.  By keeping the blog, I can update the site when I'm away from my home PC.  Generally I use it a self-reminder for my findings on the Internet, but maybe you shall find something of interest, too.
